The More the Merrier

Today we hosted our first neighborhood play group. We had four other moms & their babies come over this afternoon to play. They are all very close in age and they were so cute to see all together! Of course, they were all fascinated by the toys that the other ones were holding and I'm sure there will be lots of discussions in the future about sharing! George loved having company but doesn't know his own strength because he enjoyed patting his friends on the head but did so a little too hard some of the times which led to some unhappy reactions. Luckily, sweet Abby was there to share kisses with everyone!

Here's a very short video of George pushing his buddy Adrian on the tractor. They did this for quite a while - pretty cute.

Big Boy Toys

On Sunday we made a trip down to the Emerson's storage unit and got George some new "big boy" toys. He has become so active, his baby toys just don't seem to be keeping his attention too much anymore. We are so lucky to have the Emerson's share all of Luke's things, he has some great toys, clothes, and baby gear that we have been borrowing and it has been a life-saver!
Here's George enjoying his new trucks and trike (and yes, Sean loves these new toys, too)...

He loves to push this one all over, but it can get going pretty fast and he'll have to drop to his knees to stay upright. But he never lets go!
Yes, he still drools. A lot.

All Aboard!

Yesterday was so much fun! With my aunts still in town, we all traveled up to Ft. Collins where my dad has been working to meet him for lunch. We all got to see my dad's train where he spends his days!
After our train fun, we went out to lunch and stopped to let the kids play in a fountain near the restaurant.

Even though this picture is blurry, I love that it shows just how much George loved playing in the water with my mom!

We loved having my aunts in town this week - they also got to witness George learn how to clap this week, point with one finger, and climb a flight of stairs on his own. We are so blessed to have such an amazing family!

10 Months Old!

Here is our 10-month old boy - can you believe it?!Here's the latest with George:
  • He is starting to make lots of new sounds. He can now make the "d" sound, "t" sound, "s" sound, and I think I've heard him say "ya" a couple times :)
  • He loves to cruise around the house pushing his toy bar although almost anything that he can push will do. The laundry hamper works pretty well. He can get from the front of the house to the kitchen walking and pushing. When he gets there, our baby gate is up and he pulls himself up and holds the bars and rattles them like he's in jail. It's pretty cute!
  • He seems to be pretty fearless, especially around water. Yesterday at the pool with Grace, he was crawling around in the baby pool and didn't seem to even notice or care that it was getting deeper and deeper and just kept going. Last week, James decided that since George was crawling in his baby pool that it looked like a good opportunity to ride him like a horse. Even though G's face was pushed under a bit, it literally didn't even faze him.
  • He loves to read books and got two free board books from the Denver Public Library for his hard work in their summer reading program!
  • He is starting to give hugs and kisses and it melts my heart. There was a while there where all he wanted to do was push me away, now he loves to snuggle up and wrap his little arms around my neck. I love it!

We had an action-packed weekend with friends and family. Here are some pictures of our adventures:

At Alex Archer's 2nd birthday party on Saturday... Crawling with Grandpa in their backyard...Learning how to eat corn on the cob by watching daddy...With my Aunt Merna...With Grace at her pool in Parker... It's so hard to believe that George will be a year old in just two months! The time seems to have gone by so quickly, but at the same time it seems like so long ago that he was a newborn baby. We love you, George!

A Toothy Grin

Because I've been a bad photographer this week and haven't taken nearly enough pictures, I thought I'd just post this one of George showing off his four new teeth on top. They must have been really painful because as soon as they were all in, his sleeping at night improved so much! Now he wakes up just once around 5:00, nurses, and will go back to sleep until 7:00 or so. So much better than the 2 hour stretches of sleep from a month ago! With his new teeth and short hair, our baby is looking more like a little boy every day.

First Haircut

This morning, Sean and I decided to give George a bit of a haircut. His hair was really getting long, in his eyes, and you could put a tiny ponytail in the back if you wanted to! Here he is pre-cut:

He started off being very brave; Sean just used his clippers so it would just be an easy job over his whole head. The back looked great, but once he got to the front where his bangs were so long, George and I felt exactly the same way! It was like another baby was now sitting in the high chair he looked so different!!

Post-cut:

I'm sure we'll get used to it, but right now he just looks so different! With one move of the clippers, my baby disappeared and a little boy took his place! We'll have to remember that the front of his hair can be a little longer, I think it's too short in the front, but the rest looks great. I'm still a little in shock, but pretty soon it will be just fine. What a start to our day!

9 Month Stats

George had his 9 month check-up today. Dr. Neil says George looks great, he is a healthy baby boy! Today he weighed in at 21 lbs, 11 oz, which is the 70th percentile; he is 30 1/8 inches long (the 90th percentile) and his head is in the 78th percentile. As you can tell, he is still very tall for his age, but his weight is leveling off a bit from its highest point in the 96th percentile at 2 months.

Happy Fourth of July to everyone!

Our California Adventure

Hello everyone! We just got home last night from a wonderful vacation to California. It was my dad's 60th birthday on Monday, so we all flew out to San Jose to visit Laura and celebrate my dad's big day all together. We did so many fun things and George had a blast! Unfortunately, blogger is giving me a hard time uploading my pictures, so here's a link to view them on kodak gallery. I'll try to write up more when I can figure out the problem on blogger. Thanks to Laura and my parents for making it such a great trip!
