3 Months Old!

Our baby is already 3 months old! Gus is a complete joy and we are 100% in love with him. He is such a snuggly, sweet, good-natured baby and we all love having him as part of our family. Here's what's going on in Gus' world:
  • He still loves to be held as often as possible. Second to being held is being in the baby carrier (I got an Ergo and love it!) and in third place is the baby swing. All of these are pretty much guaranteed to keep him happy and usually get him to fall fast asleep.
  • He is interacting more with his surroundings. He now reaches out to touch the toys hanging on the bar of his bouncy seat and swats at them to get them to move.
  • He loves to talk! He will have a nice little conversation with you, taking turns and all, and will coo and squeal and gurgle some wonderful stories.

  • He has a wonderful smile and we see it so often now - it makes our day :)
  • His two favorite people in the world are George and Sean. If Gus is ever upset, George steps in as big brother and will talk to him, rock him, or sing him a song and Gus stops crying and just stares at him. I love it! As soon as Sean gets home from work, he picks up Gus and the two of them catch up on each other's day and Gus can hardly stop smiling at his daddy - it melts my heart!
  • He has yet to "sleep through the night," and is usually up once or twice to nurse. He is still sleeping in our room so it's not too hard to just roll over, pick him up to feed him, and lay him back down in his co-sleeper. George only slept in our room for a month because he was such a noisy, grunty sleeper and I never got to really enjoy having him in with us. I love having Gus in our room. I love looking at him while I fall asleep and knowing that he's right beside me all night long :)
  • He has done a great job with me being back at work this month. My mom says he takes a bottle just fine (although he doesn't eat much and I come home with more than twice as much milk as he ate while I was gone), but he's always happy and content at the end of his days with Gaky.

These are some pictures I took of Gus a couple days ago. As you can see, his eyes are still such a pretty blue and he's about as beautiful a baby as you can get (I'm his mom, I can say that!).

Happy 3 months, Gus! Thank you for being a part of us!

Swing Time

This morning George decided he'd like to push Gus in his little swing instead of let the motor do it. There were a couple pushes that made me a little nervous, but Gus thought it was one of the best rides ever!Sure, mom, we'll be safe :)

Easter 2011

Here are the boys in their Easter best, altered a bit since it's been pretty cold the past two days. We mostly celebrated Easter yesterday with my parents and the Emersons. We went to Regis University for a giant egg hunt. There were thousands of eggs and hundreds of kids and George was so excited. But as soon as kids started to run out onto the grass, George completely froze! He picked up one egg and just stood there the rest of the time while the other kids cleared the eggs in under 30 seconds! It was pretty hilarious!
After the egg hunt, we headed back to my parents to have lunch. Here are some pictures of our afternoon. More eggs were hidden in the Balluff's backyard and George did much better finding them in a less-stressful environment :)

Trying out his new gardening gloves...
Last night we left out the baskets for the Easter bunny. Gus was pretty excited, as you can see.
He came! It took George forever to find all the hidden eggs this morning because his strategy is to find one, open it, eat the bunny crackers that were inside, then look for the next.
After church today, they had another egg hunt (4 total egg hunts for George this weekend!). By now, I think he understood what he was supposed to do.
Sean made us some yummy breakfast after church and Gus tried out the Bumbo for the first time...

It's been a nice weekend with family and it was so fun to see George enjoy another holiday. Happy Easter everyone!

Play Ball!

Sean and George are at Coors Field right now for the Rockies/Cubs game. It's George's first game since he was a baby and he was so excited! While they're enjoying the game, I thought I'd share a few more pictures for today. To get George ready for the big leagues, we took him yesterday to get some Rockies gear and his first baseball glove! He seriously loves it and played catch with Sean so much yesterday. He's got pretty good form :)These few pictures are from this morning before they left for the game. I know they're having a great time, I hope Sean took some pictures so I can see my boy's big smile!

Pro Pics

We had our family pictures taken last weekend again by the same lady that took them in September. It's too bad it was a windy day because the pictures were inside instead of out, but we did get a couple pretty cute pictures. I think next we'll ask for more candid pictures and not so posed, but even some of the goofy ones with George and Gus make us smile. I can just picture the boys being 20 years old looking at some of these and laughing hysterically like Laura and I do when we look at some of our family pics from when we were little. So here you go...
