My First Day Away From George

Today I subbed at my old school for the first time, which meant George would spend the day without his mom. He stayed with my mom, of course, and had a wonderful time with her. I think he was a little confused this morning when I packed him up in the car when he's usually just waking up to cuddle with us in bed. Everything went fine and I had a great day at Swanson. I subbed for our librarian and got to practice letters with some kindergarteners for a while. On one activity, they needed to match a picture with its beginning letter. I pointed to a picture of an armadillo and asked the kindergarteners, "Do you know what this animal is called? It's kind of a funny name." One little boy raised his hand and questioningly said, "Gary?" I almost died!!
It really was fun to see my friends and be around the kids again today and I'm subbing there for a 1/2 day on Monday as well. Even though it was a great day, I sure missed George and am so glad I don't need to work every day! Here's a cute picture of George showing off his big dimples:

Have a great weekend everyone!

A Snowy Day

After our ridiculously warm weather last week, it has finally started looking like winter today with a pretty snowfall over Denver. Here are a couple pictures of George and me enjoying the snow (and Leo, of course).

Enjoy your week everyone!

Quick Stats Update

We just got back from George's 4 month check-up. He is doing well across the board and even impressed Dr. Nick with his baby sit ups. Here are his official numbers: He weighs 16 lbs, 15 oz which puts him in the 90th percentile for weight, he's 27 inches long which is the 97th percentile for height, and his head is in the 55th percentile. Dr. Neil assures us not to be worried about him growing up to be a large man with a tiny head. :)

That's all for now!

Four Months Old!

George is four months old today, and he started the day watching Barack Obama's inauguration on TV:
Here are some tidbits about our four-month-old boy:
  • He seems to get better at his grabbing skills everyday. He is much more accurate in grabbing the toys I give him, and now he's really good at bringing them to his mouth to chew on.

  • He loves our dog, Leo. There have been many times that George is fussy and all I do is call Leo over, squat down on the ground with George, and pet the dog for him to watch and he is completely calm. Leo enjoys these moments, too!

  • We are trying to get him to be better at taking a bottle. My parents have babysat a couple times and he doesn't like taking a bottle from them at all. So I've tried to give him one myself about once a day, sometimes every other day, to get him used to it. I'm going to be substituting at my old school one or two days a week so he'd better figure it out!!

  • I've started to carry him around the house in my baby wrap facing out now that I'm confident in his head control and he loves every second of it. He kicks his legs and checks everything out from this new point of view.

  • Every single day I think my heart might explode with how much I love him. Everyone says that and now I know exactly what they mean.

George and Gracie Together Again

Last night our good friends, the Peters, came over for dinner. Their daughter, Grace, was born the same day as George. The babies started out very close in weight but not anymore!! Grace weighs about 13 pounds while we think George is close to 18 pounds. When Sean and I picked up Grace, we almost threw her into the ceiling she was so light!! The babies paid a little more attention to each other this time, and it was fun seeing Grace looking so cute and smiley!! Here are a few pictures from our night:
They both love their hands!
Sean and Adam with their babies...

Grace fits so nicely in her bumbo seat, while it takes some serious shoving to get George's booty and big legs to squeeze into his!

I think Karla got some better pictures with her camera, so check her blog to see more birthday buddy cuteness!

Tummy Time

Tummy time has notoriously been a low point to George's day until now. He usually cries and just buries his head into the blanket and moves it back and forth. The past few days, however, he seems to have either gotten a lot stronger or just figured out what he can do to make the situation better!
This time Leo thought it looked like George needed a little moral support:

Lots of Smiles

This post is just a random assortment of George enjoying himself.
Here are a couple pictures of George in the Exersaucer that Shane and Rhonda lent us. He doesn't quite understand how to play with everything yet, of course, but there are a couple things that he'll grab and study. I think he just likes standing up by himself!
Here he is showing off his grabbing skills while in the bumbo seat: Here's a video of one of the highlights of each day for George - getting undressed!

George's New Talent

It's amazing how proud I am when George does something new, even if it's something relatively small like grabbing hold of something. Well, that's his new trick and he's getting a little better at it. The first time he did it was a few days ago with his activity bar. I walked into the living room and there he was, holding on tight and looking so baffled! This time he first had to decide if this toy was even worth grabbing..."I guess it's alright"My toy selection wasn't great, this was a hard toy to grab. This one was a little easier and made the trip right to his mouth.

Here are some other cute pictures from the last week or so - Happy New Year!
