32 Weeks!

Last week was a fun baby week: we set up the crib and I had my baby shower on Sunday. Here's our baby's room so far:

We got this glider chair from Craig's list. Marty Clark and my mom re-covered the cushions with this cute fabric and my mom made the pillow! There's still lots to do to make the room look finished: we'd like a bookshelf, something to hang on a couple walls, etc. but it's pretty much ready for a baby to live in, especially since the baby will be sleeping in our room for a while at night.
Here's me and my baby bump looking huge at the shower this weekend. It was a very small get-together. My sister flew in from California and my good friends that I grew up with were all there and some new friends that I've met through Sean's friends. My friend Katy planned it all and made some delicious food - THANKS KATY!

The verdict was pretty much split on the sex of our baby. We got lots of great things for whoever decides to join us in September! It's so hard to believe that it's practically August already. It's especially hard to believe that my belly still has 8 weeks of growing to do. I honestly have a hard time picturing myself much bigger than this, but I know it's coming!

I start back to work next week. I'm so glad we have my replacement hired and she's really excited to be taking over and will be spending lots of time with the class while I'm still there to make the transition really easy for the kids. I bet by Thanksgiving they won't even remember me!

31 Weeks - Starting the Baby's Room

Today Sean and I painted the baby's room. Actually, Sean did literally all the work, I painted a few stars in one corner. This has been the way Sean wants the room since I first found out I was pregnant. He envisioned a sun in one corner and the moon in the other with the sky changing from day to night along the way. I have to admit, I was skeptical about how it would turn out. He did such a great job and I think it looks so great!

At first, my suggestion was using a sponge for the transition from color to color. It didn't work so well.

So Sean figured out how to blend the colors and just make his way around the room.

Our next step will be to replace the hideous ceiling fan in there that came with the house. Then, I think we're ready to bring in the crib and set that up. Oh, and Sean wants to put up a piece of white trim to separate the border from the rest of the wall. I can't wait to see it all finished!

No other news in the O'Reilly house. The baby keeps growing - I have a midwife's appointment on Wednesday to check in and we are also taking our tour of the hospital that night evening. That's it from me for the week - Sean is awesome!

29 Weeks

I don't have a picture for this week, but I thought I'd give a quick update on Baby O'Reilly. I had my first midwife appointment this morning. It went really well, the midwife was so nice and doesn't seem to be a big deal at all that I switched there this far along in the pregnancy. I took my one hour glucose test to see if I have gestational diabetes and I got my Rhogam shot since I have O- blood and Sean's is A+. My blood pressure was a little on the high side but she wasn't too worried. I also only gained 2.5 pounds in the past 5 weeks which is unheard of for me since I gained 25 pounds by week 24. It made me feel better that I hadn't packed on more than that, most of the 2.5 pounds probably being the baby's weight gain. The baby is head down which is good to know and it's heartbeat is 150.

My sister's coming to town this week and then everybody's off to Iowa to go canoeing. Sean and I aren't making the trip this year, driving all that way doesn't sound appealing at all. I'm kind of sad about it because I know it will be a blast! Sean's good friend Rob Saunders and his wife Julie had their baby last week almost 5 weeks early so that has lit a fire under our butts to get things going for our little one's arrival. Next week will for sure have pictures, I promise!
