A Look Back

Sean's parents are in town, and we've been keeping very busy having lots of fun with them. George thinks his Nana and Pa are pretty awesome and he's even said "Pa" a couple times! I've been really bad, though, and haven't taken any pictures :( We still have time, so everyone had better be ready to smile over the next several days!

Just so there isn't a post with no pictures, here's one of George from last January...

Picture of the Day

Laura, since you asked, here is a picture for today. I'm not making any promises about what will happen tomorrow, but here you go. I was putting some laundry away after George's nap and came out of the bedrooms to find George doing this:
He had climbed up his step stool and helped himself to a delicious apple. (I only have a pretty bowl of apples out because Sean's parents are getting here tomorrow and I thought it looked very "Good Housekeeping").

We're Going Streaking!

For the past few nights, George has been a crazy little lunatic running around the basement after his bath wearing nothing but his big smile. It is so funny to watch him - he runs in circles, falls over, rolls around, climbs, shoots baskets, and talks on the phone. He does not stand still for 15 minutes, then we put him in his jammies and he falls asleep almost immediately. He is so funny!
Get these jammies out of here!
I have some funny videos, too, but they expose a little too much of George to share on the internet :-)

Stock Show

This morning my parents took the three of us to the National Western Stock Show. We were all smart enough to go early in the morning and beat the crowds. We walked right in, got into the fun kid-oriented stuff with hardly any lines, and walked out past the long line of people trying to get in at 11:30. George was so well-behaved and loved seeing all the animals. We headed straight for the petting zoo and it was a big hit:

Of course, George also loved seeing the tractors all around the grounds. He got to sit in quite a few and pretend to take them out for a spin.

We didn't watch any of the rodeo events, but we did stop by to look at the arena. p.s. This is the exact spot where my college graduation was held. All of the graduates lined up where they line up the horses for the rodeo. There was no dirt when I graduated, though :)
George even took his first pony ride! His pony was named Comanche (Sean thought Comanche was the best name of all the ponies). He was a little nervous when he was first put on the pony, but then he was just fine, he really doesn't get too scared of trying new things.

It was a lot of fun! Now George is fast asleep and I have to wash the stock show smell from all our clothes. Next year we might need to cave and get G a cowboy hat because the little boys there looked so darn cute in them!

He Speaks!

Here is a very quick video to show off George's new-found verbal ability.

"Ball" can now be added to the very occasional "ada-ada" (for dada) and "ma" for more. Hooray! This video makes me laugh because he's so cute one second and then he shows off his grumpiness when he wants to hold the camera. What a funny kid!

Just For My Mom

Hi Mom! Since you wrote on facebook that you wish you had new blog pictures to look at, I ran upstairs and took a few cute pics of George in the bathtub. I also got to use my new eye-fi that Sean got me for Christmas (it puts your pictures onto your computer with no cords, awesome!).

So mom, here you go...

We've been pretty boring around here lately, obviously. The most exciting part of our weekend was a big trip to Costco - yippee! We've taken a couple nice walks with George so he can stomp through as much snow as possible in his snow boots, but that's about it. The week ahead has very little going on as well, so I'll have to force something fun to photograph so my family doesn't get too impatient again :) Have a great week!

Happy New Year!

The three of us were so happy to join Katy, Tim, and James in the mountains last night to celebrate the New Year. Katy and Tim's good friends Holland, Kris, & their daughter Riley were there also, and we had such a good time! George took a very short nap on the way up to the cabin, so by 6:30 last night he was exhausted and went to bed with about 30 seconds of crying. I was so excited! Unfortunately, that didn't last because he woke up around 11:00 and was awake until 12:15. He and James both got to wish everyone Happy New Year since James was still awake after mastering the art of escaping his pack n play. Those little stinkers. When we finally laid down (with George now sharing our bed) we had a perfect view of some great fireworks right out the window. The only problem was that G spent the next 15 minutes laying down signing "more more more!"
This morning all the kids were happy and ready to play in the snow. George loved this sled!Of course Sean had to do some off-road sledding...All by himself!James also had some toddler-size skis that all the kids tried out. George had so much fun letting us slide him around in the skis - he seemed like quite the natural! Here are the O'Reilly New Year's Resolutions (I'm hoping that if I write them down, they'll be harder to break):
GEORGE: No more bottles. He doesn't know it yet, but I'm packing them up. He only gets one when he wakes up and before bed, so I'm hoping it's not a big deal.
ANNE: Drink more water and keep the house cleaner. With the basement project, I always let that be the excuse that the rest of the house was a mess. Not anymore! Now I even typed up a schedule for what part of the house I clean each weekday so I'm not overwhelmed with a whole-house cleaning project.
SEAN: None. I guess it's pretty nice to be perfect like Sean. :-)

Happy New Year!
