Petting Leo

As you can see, these two are going to be pretty good pals!

George's First Trip to the Zoo

Today was such a gorgeous day here in Denver - about 70 degrees - and a free day at the zoo so we decided to try it out. George and I met Kelly and the triplets and my friend Katy and her son, James. The babies, of course, had no idea where we were, but James enjoyed looking at the animals and waving to them. Here are some pictures of our fun outing:

George's Fun Weekend

Here are a couple pictures of George showing off his sitting skills at Book Babies on Friday at the library. It was really fun - we sang songs, read a couple books, and then they let the kids play afterwards with a huge bucket of balls. George loved it!

On Saturday, we gave George his first taste of cereal. While very little was actually swallowed, he seemed to enjoy himself and was eager to keep opening his mouth to try again. I think the bib was a bigger hit than the cereal, it was very distracting :)

We're going back to Book Babies today and then tomorrow we're headed to the zoo for the first time with Kelly and the triplets and Katy and James. The weather is supposed to be really nice here so I'm looking forward to our outing!

Five Months Old!

George is a five month-old baby already, I can't believe it! It seems like at first we had to pay such attention and wait for George to learn new things, now it's like everyday he can do something better than the day before or something completely new. Here's the lowdown on George:

  • He is starting to sit up all by himself. He can do it for a minute or two if there's something in front of him to keep his attention. If he tries to look up or back, he tips over. In the Boppy pillow, he can sit for a long time.

    • He now likes to pet Leo whenever he can. He reaches out his hand and gives Leo some nice pets... and an occasional ear-grab. So far, Leo just sits still and lets him with no problems. It's pretty darn cute.

    • I predict his first tooth will be in within the next week or so. I'm no dentist, but I'm pretty sure I can see something changing on his lower gum and all he wants to do is rub his gums on anything.

    • He still hasn't rolled over again since the two times he did it almost three weeks ago. Oh well, I'm sure he'll figure it out again soon.

    • He can spin 180 degrees in his crib. The first time it happened, I was so confused because I was pretty sure I didn't put him in that direction!

    • He's going to have his first taste of baby cereal tomorrow in his high chair. We were planning on feeding him in his Bumbo seat with the little tray, but he literally doesn't fit in it anymore, you have to shove his chubby legs in and his butt gets stuck when you try to take him out, so it has to be the high chair for our chunk. I put him in it a couple times just to get him used to it and gave him a spoon to play with. He enjoyed the spoon until it disappeared somewhere!

    • I'm trying to figure out some kind of nap schedule for the day so that there is a routine. The morning is pretty reliable but the rest of the day is completely up for grabs.

    • We love every single thing about him.

Who's In the Mood for a Laugh?

    George is!!

Basically, Sean can do no wrong with George and he is the funniest person in the whole world. It is so cute to see how George reacts whenever Sean is around. I have even had to ask Sean to stop talking to me while I nurse, because George pulls off to get a look at his dear old dad!

Both my parents and my sister are out of the country for the week (longer for Laura since she's all the way in Africa for 3 weeks) so we're hoping that they all have a safe trip!

    Have a great day!

    Mr. Flexible

Here's a cute picture to show off George's new-found flexibility. He has found his feet and loves to grab them when his diaper is off. He has also discovered something else to grab when his diaper is off, too! :)
We had such a fun weekend playing with our new computer and spending yesterday with the Emersons. We got to play their Wii (Sean and I had never played one before) and we had a lot of fun. Five year-old Luke can't wait for the day that George can finally play with him. Here's Luke and George hanging out telling stories to each other:

George really watches everything Luke does, and listens so intently to his voice. It's so cute. As you can see, Luke is a big Star Wars fan and can't wait for George to be able to play with all his awesome toys.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

I know Valentine's Day isn't until Saturday, but I thought I'd post George's Valentine's Day picture that we made.
Have a happy heart day everyone!

    Meeting Baby Isabelle

Today George and I went to visit my good friend Michelle and her new baby, Isabelle. I didn't hold Isabelle last week when she was in the hospital, and when I did today, I couldn't believe how light she was compared to our big guy, G! She weighs about 6 pounds so George was never that light, she was like a little feather. She is absolutely beautiful and I'm so excited for George and I to get to hang out with Michelle and Isabelle and do all kinds of fun baby/mommy things!

Rolling Over (But No Pictures to Prove It)

Yes, our little guy rolled over on Sunday for the first time and he did it again on Monday, but he hasn't since! I have no pictures yet of this milestone but I'm sure there will be plenty of rolling over in the future to capture. The pictures I do have are about as opposite from rolling over as you can get. Here are just a few pictures that show George's numerous sleeping positions...
    Hanging on to his ring...

    How cute are his hands?

    After a long walk...
I'll try again today to get G to roll over, I'll post the video here if I can get it!
