HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Sean is out of town all weekend at his friend's wedding in Minneapolis, so it's just me, George and Leo this weekend. Since we're all alone, I needed a project for today so I decided to carve a pumpkin and take G's picture with it. Unfortunately, George was very uncooperative with the pictures. At first, he slept through the photo session...
Then he cried...
Then he stared blankly at me...Then he gave a very small smile (look very closely)... Not the most successful photo shoot, but he's still pretty cute in my book. Tonight we're passing out candy and tomorrow we'll be celebrating Luke's b-day in Castle Rock and my mom's b-day, it should be lots of fun!

An Evening with George

Here are some cute pics of George last night with Sean. Can you tell he was very satisfied with his evening meal? We were laughing so hard at how much he was sticking out that tummy of his!

Then came the lounging...

It's been beautiful weather here the past few days so we've gotten to go on some nice stroller rides (Leo too!). George usually fusses for the first block or so until we really get going, but this weekend we found a pacifier that he actually likes, so today's walk started off very calmly. Thanks to Adam and Karla for the outfit you see above, it says "Mommy's Monster" which is only true some of the time!

George Meets Grace

Today George met his birthday buddy, Grace. Her parents are good friends of ours and Adam (her dad) works with Sean. The babies were born 45 minutes apart from each other! While both babies were good during our photo shoot, George would not wake up while Grace turned on the charm. It was entirely too cute to see them smushed together on our big chair.

George Rocks the Vote

Yesterday G went with me to drop off our mail-in ballots. Needless to say, he was the hit of the polling place. The little old ladies that were volunteering all came over to meet him and say how cute he is (I agree). They said that he's the youngest voter they've seen yet and he just had to have his "I Voted" sticker.

I really think George is starting to give real smiles. He had a couple big ones in a row yesterday. I wanted to record them on video but by the time I had switched the button on the camera from photo to video, the smiles had turned into cries. I just have to work on my comedy routine to get him to really start smiling!

George's First "Major" Injury

Yesterday George and I went to run a couple errands. I was putting him in his car seat, fast asleep, and all of a sudden he let out the worst cry I'd ever heard. I looked at him and saw that his little nose had a drop of blood on it! I have no idea how it happened, my best guess is that my fingernail got him somehow. I felt so awful! That cry was like no other cry he's had so far, so now I know what it sounds like when he's in pain. I felt so guilty all day long every time I looked at his cute little face. (It didn't help that the day before he scratched his leg on the zipper of my shirt). After the initial scream, a minute of being cuddled settled him back down and he was back to sleep. Poor G!

p.s. Why is blogger turning my pictures sideways? They are upright when I select them... sorry about that.

One Month Old!

I can't believe one month has already passed since George arrived! It has been a rollercoaster month for me (Sean has always been a lot calmer than me in stressfull situations) but I have loved every minute that I've spent with G this month. I'm attaching some pictures from his one month birthday today, along with some tidbits of information we have learned about George this month:
  • He loves to eat. We got off to a challenging start breastfeeding but now that he and I have figured it out a little better, he is a champion eater and has the pot belly to prove it.

  • He loves to sit on Sean's lap first thing in the morning. After I've fed him, I pass him off to Sean and they just look at each other and make silly faces and he's the most content he'll be all day sitting there with daddy.

  • He is losing his hair. I thought he would lose the hair on the back of his head, but it's falling out from the top and has a definite receding hair line now. The hair in the back grows forward so it looks like he's trying to pull off a comb-over - pretty cute.

  • Getting dressed is the worst part of his day. He hates every second of it. Getting undressed is fabulous though, and having his diaper off for a few minutes to air out is heavenly.

  • Baths are wonderfully relaxing. He could stay in that warm water all night. Taking him out of the bath is the most torturous thing that Sean and I can do to him. He screams so loud that I'm surprised social services haven't been called.

  • He is paying much closer attention to us now and will follow our voices when we move around. He seems to see us much better and sometimes acts like he wants to smile, we can't wait to see a real one!

  • He sleeps in a car seat inside the crib. We tried it without the car seat and he just can't seem to stay comfortable with his reflux and wakes up all night. With the car seat, he'll go 3-5 hours at night in a row, eat, then go 3 more hours. It's a life-saver!

  • Sean and I love him more than anything in the world.

    I Love My Grandparents!

Here are some good pictures of George and his grandparents. My parents are over quite a bit since my dad is working on the basement with Sean and my mom loves to see George as much as she can. Sean's parents were in town for 10 days and Terry helped Sean frame a bunch of walls in the basement and Marlene was very helpful with me and George and even went to a breastfeeding support group with me! We're having a good day. I'm off to the dentist and leaving Sean with George for a little bit. Sean is so good with him, I'm not worried at all.

I put some new pics of George on Kodak Gallery so if you're dying to see some new ones, click here:

We had a great night last night - G slept from 10-2, then from 3-6, then from 6:30-8:30. We were in shock!! We'll see if he can pull it off again tonight. Have a great weekend!

Also, congratulations to Jill & Zack Olmstead who had a baby boy on Wednesday in Sacramento, Micah Paul. Zack & I have know each other forever and now our baby boys are just a couple weeks apart - we're so happy for them!

    Two Weeks Old

We're loving life with our little man. George had his 2 week doctor visit yesterday and he weighs 9 pounds, 3 ounces so he's past his birth weight which is "excellent" according to our doctor and he said it means that I'm doing a good job feeding him (which I've been skeptical about at times). He is in the 95th percentile for length (22 1/4 inches) so he'll probably be tall like his mom and dad.

The past two days G has figured out how to go 2 hours without eating which is fantastic, especially at night. He even had a 3 hour stretch last night - yippee! Here are a bunch of pictures from his first two weeks. This first picture is sideways and I can't figure out how to fix it but he looks so cute I'm posting it anyway. Blogging is a bit harder to do now that George is here, I'll try to keep up a little better from now on.
