Our Funny Little Man

I have been awful about taking pictures the last couple weeks. School started last week and since it was the first week, both Michelle and I were there every day. From now on, I'll only work Thursdays, Fridays, and every other Wednesday and I think it will be a great schedule for all of us.
I wanted to share a quick funny story from this morning. Today I took George to the library's story time. He's been going to Book Babies since he was 5 months old, so I thought he'd be ready to move up to the toddler/pre-school version with craft time at the end. We got there a little early and looked at some books before going into the storytime room. The nice lady was singing fun songs and read a couple books about boats and George just got up and walked right out the door. I figured he wasn't ready to sit for that long and followed him out. He went straight to the books we were looking at earlier, picked out one about digger trucks, and walked back into the storytime room holding it out to give to the lady to read instead. I don't think he quite understood that the theme today was boats, not diggers, and that she picks the books, not him :)
Here's one of the few pictures I've taken recently of George, it's pretty obvious he was thrilled with the Oreo cookie he got as a treat.

Fun at Wash Park

This afternoon, the three of us went to Wash Park for some forced family fun. We brought along George's fishing pole that he got from Nana and Pa to try in the kiddie fishing pond. It started off pretty good...
George liked reeling in the line with help from Sean...
Until he decided he wanted to do it all himself (very typical George right now) and got upset when Sean would cast the line for him.So he got the pole all to himself and smacked it into the water for a while. Not surpisingly, no fish were caught :) After we played on the playground, we went to the small creek to throw in some sticks. Throwing in sticks led to Sean putting his feet in, which led to George dipping his feet in, which led to standing in the shallows, which led to a soaking wet boy who had a blast wading with his dad looking for crawdads.

He rode home in the bike trailer wearing only a diaper and a smile.

Summer Days

George and I have had a couple fun days this week with our friends. Yesterday, we went up to Longmont to go swimming with Katy and James. Longmont has a great toddler-only pool that the boys both loved and if George could learn to not steal other kids' toys, it would have been pleasant to just sit and watch him play :) Then, this morning George and I went to the zoo with a few of our great neighborhood friends. The kids all had a blast. There wasn't a lot of animal-watching, but they all loved running around and playing together anyway.

Watching the elephants with Mari...
Going for a ride in the covered wagon with Abby...Riding up front with Benji...George seriously loves the carousel! I don't think you can read it clearly, but just in case you're wondering, George's t-shirt says "BIG BRO." For those of you that haven't heard, we are expecting a new baby! Our second little bundle of joy should be arriving in early February. Sean and I are so excited to welcome another baby into our family and although he doesn't know it yet, I'm sure George will love having a little brother or sister (once he gets used to it)!
I got him this shirt to share the news with our parents, but I figured he'd better wear it now or else next summer it will be too small :)
This is my last week of total freedom, since I report back to work next Friday. Part of me is very excited to go back; part of me is very nervous since I'm job-sharing with Michelle and I want it to work well because our schedule is ideal; and part of me will miss George but I think it will be good for both of us to have our own things to do a couple days a week.
Enjoy your week!

Meet George

George just learned to say his own name and I think it's pretty adorable.
