Sean's good friend, Mike Parsons, has some beautiful land on Mt. Evans outside of Idaho Springs. Since Sean is off all week, we decided to go up and spend some time in the cool mountain air with the boys. We brought a picnic lunch and watched as the boys were 100% entertained with dirt, sticks, and rocks.
We used to bring Leo up here with us when we'd camp. George and Leo have a lot in common, they both went wild exploring all over the place!
There's a small stream going through the land with lots of little trout that love to eat worms! We brought George's Spiderman fishing pole, dug up some worms, and caught a couple of fish! George was very excited and liked being the one to throw them back in the water. The most challenging part was keeping Gus from jumping into the water, that was all he wanted to do.
Playing with the worms was a short distraction :)
The boys had a blast today and we ended our fun day by watching Sean play softball tonight. George saw a group of older boys (maybe between 7 and 10) playing football on a grassy part of the softball complex and looked at me and said, "I want to be their friends." So my brave, outgoing boy walked over to them and asked if he could play. He ran and laughed and tackled and had the time of his life! It made me smile looking at him listen to the boys as they explained the rules and enjoy himself so much without me right next to him. When he ran to get a drink from the water fountain, all the boys were yelling, "Hurry, George! Come back and play!" It was so stinking cute.
