Playing Catch Up

The spring has come and basically gone around here... it's always hard to believe how quickly the months of April and May go by!  School is out for me and after I take 5 days of professional development classes next week, the boys will be done with school for the summer and it will be time to celebrate! Here are a few pics from the last couple months.  

Easter in Denver was just beautiful! We dyed eggs at home, a rainy Easter morning meant the bunny hid our eggs inside, but the rest of the day was out enjoying the sunshine!  We went to church where the boys' Easter baskets were blessed (one of my favorite traditions), hunted for eggs on the church lawn, and then went to Pat & Ray's for a lovely brunch.  My parents were there along with the Emersons and a couple of Pat & Ray's friends.  It was very nice!

Spring also meant soccer season for George.  He played with pretty much the same group of friends from last year, although this time they were the red cardinals.  It was so cool to see how much each kid has grown from when we did this last spring.  There was actually some soccer-like action on the field each week! George loved it and played his heart out each week.

On Thursday night, George's class had a Pre-K Graduation at St. John's.  Each kid from the two classes walked in to "Pomp and Circumstance" and they sang an out-of-control cute song about being a "promise and possibility... and a great big bundle of potentiality."

We could not have asked for a better teacher for George this year.  She blew me away with her continuous patience and adaptation to our boy's needs.  George learned so much that I would sometimes tell my fifth graders, "Are you telling me you can't name all 7 continents? My 5 year-old can do it and point to them all on a map while singing a song about each one!"  Ms. Ima truly prepared George for kindergarten and set him up to love school and to love learning... which is absolutely the best preschool scenario we could have imagined for him.

Our plans for summer are very brief: George is in a couple weeks of sports camps at DU, we have a camping trip planned for late June, swimming lessons for both boys in July, a visit from Laura... and that's about all that's on our calendar.  And I kind of like it that way.
